Pride

Update: I managed to lose the original image for this post when I moved domains. The original image had a poppy instead of an image of a veteran and was very much saying that this story is a reason to proudly wear a poppy. This image tells the same story. Even without the poppy it’s still a shit story and, I believe, that my point still holds.

This meme is both offensive to our veterans – by making them sound ignorantly racist – and fucking stupid in equating poppy pride directly with offensive stereotypes and racism. If you’re wearing your poppy because you’re proud of having a chance to slag off the French, you’re wearing it for the wrong reason.

There are lots of reasons to be proud of wearing a poppy. This meme isn’t one of them.
