Empty Spaces
Life is a fake, or is it just me?
Running in circles, I’ll never get free.
Standing start, run the mile,
Hit the tape before others, it’s no cause to smile.
Sell my soul, it’s just common sense,
Abandon innocence, climb over then fence.
Grass is greener, but find it’s just paint,
Scrub and clean, but I still bear the taint.
Broken future, with no way back,
Lost innocence, truth under attack.
Idealism vanishes, devoured under the strain,
Fetid world becomes clear, heart cries with the pain.
Speak up, get social chastisement,
Can I save my soul with New Age Baptisement?
Nearly drown in Holy Water,
Where is that innocent daughter?
Old dreams are so crumbled,
To truth they’ve been humbled.
But if our lives are a lie,
Where does that leave you and I?
