Eurovision Fashion Trends 2017

Well, for all the stuff about winners wearing white, it turned out not to be a popular colour. Black was the most favoured (16 acts), with white trailing at 6 acts. Grey was the next favoured, with red also chosen by a couple.

See through skirts and full leg slits, whilst popular in the semis, didn’t make it to the final. Just three of each of those.

Pinterest worthy hairstyles also faired badly in the semis, with just three in the final.

Faking it with instruments remains popular. 7 acts did that. Not many weird ethnic instruments this time though.

Faux animals(!), leather jackets, masks, sleeves that become gloves and badly drawn on eyebrows tie with two acts each.

Tits fair badly in this years final. Just four acts earned a “tits on toast” rating. In fact high necked outfits were popular all round, on men and women. Often with geometric and/or asymmetric cuts. This was the year of the legs out (short skirts), not the tits out.

Having said that a healthy four acts had women wearing trousers. Sadly though it was a zero for men wearing skirts. ☹️

Of course we did get one instance of half naked men. Which was nice.

The unwelcome surprise trend was shoes without socks. I counted five acts where at least one person was sockless. In a couple of instances multiple people were. Please do not continue this trend! ?

On the whole, everything seemed kinda muted clothing wise this year. A lot less glitter (a bit on the trims mainly); a distinct lack of feathers and silly floating shit blowing in the breeze. There was much more in the semis.

But the runaway trend this year (apart from black and grey and weird cuts) was… hipster facial hair! 11 acts were sporting beards and various fluff on their jaws.

There you have it. Short skirts, high necks, muted colours, no socks and facial hair. Eurovision has spoken. #eurovisionfashiontrends
